Namdapha National Park  Wreathed Hornbill - two males and two females fly above us in Miao. We were visiting Namdapha Park. We only had two days, with one night spent at Hornbill camp. This was my third trip to Namdapha, and it was just as exciting as the previous two. I love this place. If I think about one place in the world where I could live, this would be at the top of the list. Before going to the park, we had to buy a few supplies in Miao. We came across a group of young women and men who were heading to the village for the weekend. They first cross the river by boat and then get into one of the jeeps that wait on the other side of the river. Life in Miao is very slow - it has a "back-in-time" feel. There is some development in tourism, but not too much. Namdapha National Park  After the first visit, I knew that I had to return to explore more of Namdapha National Park. It is a rare place with amazing primary forests, hundreds of birds, and clean rivers. Very few tourists make it to Namdapha, mostly because it is not an easy place to get to and requires a special permit. There is one path through the forest and it takes one along a circuit of about 43.5 km and reaches a maximum elevation of 906m. We camped five nights walked six days and crossed the river 11 times. Our route is mapped below. Start from Dibrugarh It is a three to four hours drive to Maio from the Dibrugarh Airport. At the check post between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, one has to present their Inner line Permit. Vendors know this is a good spot to sell produce and quick food.
